Care.com is a platform that connects babysitters, senior caretakers, tutors, petsitters, housekeepers, and other household support roles with people hiring for them. Because of the nature of the work (inside homes, often without direct supervision, outside of a business environment), Care.com goes to extensive measures to protect both their members finding work AND their members hiring for roles. They offer services saftety tools and resources, ways for caregivers to be paid and obtain profession

How to Apply

Go to the Care.com site and select “Find Jobs”. Setting up a Care.com caregiver account includes:

  • creating a profile
  • completing a bio about yourself, including any previous experience you’ve had in your field
  • uploading a current photo of yourself

Submission for a background check is also required. Care.com has their own “enhanced caregivier screening” called CareCheck during which they collect your legal name, permanent address, birth date, and Social Security Number. This check includes:
     – Social Security Number trace
     – National Sex Offender Public Website search
     – Multi-jurisdictional criminal database search
     – Federal and county criminal records search

When this process is successfully completed, your profile will display a CareCheck badge and the date of completion, nad you will be qualified to be shown in search results. CareCheck will be re-run annually with your paid membership.

 Overall, your profile be reviewed by Care.com, and if approved, you can search and apply for available opportunities by type of care and proximity.

Price to Be on the Platform

Membership has two levels, basic and premium.

Basic membership is free, but is limited in functionality. You are able to:

  • Set up your account and build your profile strength
  • Search for and apply to jobs

A premium membership includes all of the features of a basic membership, plus the ability to:

  • Appear featured in search results
  • Proactively reach out to families, including families who have not yet posted a job

If you decide to go with the premium membership tier, you have the choice of paying three different monthly fees:

  • 6 months: $10 per month
  • 3 months: $15 per month
  • 1 month: $20 per month
